Tooling Engineer

We have?an immediate opening in the Engineering Department for the position of Tooling Engineer, reporting to. Chief Engineer.
Position summary: Tooling development from designing stage to mass production, and supporting any tooling activity inside the organization. Integrate the part design to mass production.
Qualifications: (knowledge, skills and abilities):

  • Bachelor degree in Plastics Engineering or 5+ years in injection molding

  • Injection molding experience in the automotive industry (3 or more years)

  • Manufacturing for the automotive industry (3 or more years)

  • Project management experience

  • Knowledge of injection mold tooling construction

  • Strong interpersonal skills
    Primary Position responsibilities:

  • Evaluate 3D part data for tooling and molding feasibility

  • Create tooling specifications

  • Review and approve tool designs

  • Manage the manufacturing and schedule of all injection tools

  • Control the tool development schedule (including tooling trials and tuning of the tool)

  • Control design change activities

  • Tooling inspection, including: measurement, tolerances, , and steel/part surface condition

  • Maintain the problem tracking of the injection tooling activities

  • Plan and controlling the texturing of the injection tools with customer involvement

  • Tooling cost breakdown and analysis for new tools and engineering changes

  • Injection machine setup analysis

  • Collect 3D part data and distribute to vendors

  • Support outsource suppliers for any tool or part quality issues
    Secondary Responsibilities:

  • Support new model review activities and supplier audits

  • Attend customer reviews for new model and recommended countermeasures for requested improvements

  • Support in-house molding and tool issues

  • Attend and support internal BQ (quality improvement) meetings in a back-up capacity
    Essential skills and experience:
    Injection molding processing knowledge
    Injection tooling design and construction knowledge
    Ability to view, measure, and section cut part or injection tool data in a 3D software package
    2D print knowledge
    Strong project management abilities
    Problem solving skills
    Familiarity with machine tool process (CNC, EDM, conventional machining)
    Cost estimation of injection tooling for new build tooling and engineering changes
    Understanding of tooling leading edge technology such as flow analysis software, gas assist, texturing, plating, decorating among others
    Tool repair skills (grinding, polishing, etc.)
    Strong interpersonal and communication skills
    Work under minimum supervision
    Computer skills (Word, excel, outlook, AutoCAD, 3D software (CATIA))
    Pneumatic, hydraulic, electronic, and electrical knowledge (robots, sensors, I/O signals, etc.)
    Quality standards
    ISO 9000

  • Physical demands: Traveling is a must (40%) of the time. Handwork tooling inside the injection machine or on the floor is required (hand grinding, polishing, among others)

  • Work environment: Industrial work environment. Driving, walking, climbing, lifting, and standing are required.


 

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
